Bio

Heyo! My name is Wes, and I'm a graduate student in the ECE Department at UCSB. In my research, I'm interested in integrating metasurfaces with traditional vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) to push beyond the current device limitations. I got into this field because I love learning about the fundamental light-matter interactions that govern our universe, and how that theory can be applied in the laboratory to do some really interesting things. When I'm not working, I enjoy travelling with my amazing wife, Sadie, and our adorable daughter.
